Alexander ‘Mac’ Hopkins SPRINGHILL - Alexander “Mac” Hopkins aged 85 years of Springhill, N.S., passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007 in QEII Hospital, Halifax, N.S. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the Late Arthur and Susan (Richmond) Hopkins. He was educated in Springhill school system, worked with the Nova Scotia Liquor Commision for 37 years, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force for four years, he was also an elder of the St David’s Presbyterian Church and Choir Member. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and enjoyed bowling, dancing, playing cards, darts, crosswords and especially his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary (Blanchard) Hopkins; daughters, Marlene Hopkins, Denise Hopkins, Dawn Rolfe and son in law Stephen Rolfe all of Springhill, and Diane (Michael) Sweet of Collingwood. Three grandchildren, Jonathan Stephen Rolfe, Jarrod Alexander Rolfe and Mikhayla Lynn Sweet. Several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, John Douglas, a sister Kathleen and step father, John Davidson. Visitations will be held 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 on Monday, December 3, 2007 in A.H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill from where the Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007 with The Reverend Elizabeth Davies officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill at a later date. If so desired, donations to The St. David’s Presbyterian Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
