SMITH, ELDON (TED) RAY - The death of Eldon (Ted) Smith, age 84, of Sussex, NB, formerly of Norton, NB, occurred at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, NB, on Saturday, January 22, 2005. Ted was the husband of the late Phyllis (Pollock, Konkle) Smith and son of the late Christina (Reid) and William Smith of Armstrong's Corner, Queens Co., NB. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, being pre-deceased by two brothers; Leslie and William Jr. and four sisters; Belle, Gertie, Annie and Jennie. Ted is survived by one son; Bryan of Rothesay, one step-son; John Konkle of Franktown, ON, three step-grandchildren; Tammy, Daniel and Derek Konkle, two step-great grandchildren Darren and Jenna and several nieces and nephews. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps and was retired from the New Brunswick Telephone Company. At Ted's request, following cremation, a private family graveside service will be held at Riverbank Cemetery, in the Spring.
