WHALEN, RICHARD W. - 1948-2005 Richard Whalen, husband of Linda Whalen, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital on Wednesday, March 9th, 2005. Born in Moncton, October 17, 1948, he was the son of Margaret Whalen (Coates) and the late Paul Whalen. He was an inspection manager for NB Coastal, Canadian Food Inspection Agency. Richard had a passion for salmon fly fishing on the Miramichi, he enjoyed classic Chevs and was a member of the Mountain View United Church. Richard was a kind man who was always willing to help others. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Linda (McDowell), a daughter Jillian at home, a son Mark (Linda) of Dartmouth, his mother Margaret, brothers Jim (Laura), Danny (Margaret Ann) all of Moncton, a sister Cathy LeBlanc (Gilles) of Oakville, ON., in-laws Keith and Clara McDowell, Wayne and Sally McDowell, Peggy and Bill Justason all of Pennfield, NB as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Paul in 1972. At Richard's request, there will be no visitation prior to the funeral service to be held from Mountain View United Church 85 MacBeath Avenue Moncton on Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 AM. A reception for Richard's friends and family will follow the service in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Oncology Center or the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. Georges L.
