Chalmer "Chum" Duffy AMHERST, NS - The death of Mr. Chalmer "Chum" Duffy occurred peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 1, 2007. Born in Nappan, Chum was the son of the late Charles & Beatrice (Gould) Duffy. Chum graduated from the RCMP training facility in Regina but chose to return home to Amherst to work with Tantramar Motors Service Station for seventeen years before starting Duffy's Esso in 1963. Chum enjoyed meeting and working with everyone and continued with his business until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Duffy is survived by his son Wayne (Sharon) of Amherst, grandchildren Stephanie (Craig) Martin of Moncton, Michael, Dorchester, and Erin, Amherst; twin brother Delmar, Charlottetown; sister Helen Rowe, Amherst; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed, and the family would like to give a special thanks to his special girls that have lovingly cared for him for the past 20 months: Marjorie Wells, Joanie Killen, Gail MacKenzie, Johanne Buchanan, Carol Black, Martha Huston, Sheila Marshall, and Marjorie Milner. Besides his parents, Chum was predeceased by his wife of 50 years Minnie (nee Landry); sisters Eileen White and Edith Sharpe both of Amherst. Visitation will be held Friday, August 3, 2007 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm from the Furlong~Jones Chapel, 70 Church Street, Amherst. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Holy Family Parish, Amherst on Saturday, August 4, 2007 at 10am, Father Eric Theriault presiding. A parish prayer service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 8:00 pm. As per the request of the family, donations in Chum's memory can be made to the VON, The LA Animal Shelter, or the charity of one's choice. www.furlongjones.ca
