HASTINGS - Peacefully, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Charles W. Travis, age 81, of Hastings, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Born in Hastings in 1925, he was a son of the late Alex M. and Celesta (McKenna) Travis. Charles was a lifelong farmer. In addition to his wife, the former May Porter, of Hastings, he will be sadly missed by his daughters Margaret Travis at home, and Lucy (Laurie) Hicks of Amherst; sons Frederick at home and Henry, Pugwash, NS; 4 grandsons Charles, Daniel, David and Laurie. The last surviving member of his immediate family, he was predeceased by son William, a brother Douglas and a sister Agnes Noonan. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (667-8777). Visiting hours will take place on Friday, January 5, 2007 from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral at 11 am at the Furlong~Jones Chapel, 66 Church St, Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
