New Minas - Dennis Newton - 83, New Minas, formerly of North Wallace and Shinimicas, Cumberland County, passed away peacefully, early on the morning of Jan. 16th, 2008, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lincolnshire, England, followed by a move to Australia, and at the age of nine moved to Canada with both his parents, Herbert & Dorothy (Chambers) Newton. He proudly served for Canada in the Second World War. Denis was a successful Dairy Farmer in both North Wallace and Shinimicas He is survived by his current wife, Hazel Newton, son, Ronnie (Sharon) Newton; daughter, Gwen (Stirling) Harris; step-daughter, Susan (Ken) Silver; grandchildren, Nicole Harris, Darren Newton; Danny (Agnieszka) Newton; great-grandchild, Chase Lee; two step-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Willma (MacFarland) Newton. Dennis will be greatly missed by his family and friends. There will be no funeral service as per his wishes. A graveside service will be held in the spring, date yet to be set. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Mundle's Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash (243-2506).
