Donald Bliss Brown AMHERST - Donald Bliss Brown, 69, Amherst, Cumberland Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2008, in Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Napan, with his wife and family by his side. Born in Springhhill, he was a son of the late Frank W. and Edythe A. (Mattinson) Brown. As a young man he was employed with Exide Battery Company in Mississauga, Ont., for 13 years. Following this, he was emplyed as a truck driver with John Grant Haulage in Mississauga for 28 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a devoted husband, father, stepfather and grandfather and he enjoyed time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Margrette Parsons, Amherst; son, Shane Donald Brown (Tracy), Whitby, Ont.; stepson, Daniel Dean Parsons (Caroline), Markham, Ont.; granddaughter, Bailey Brown, Whitby, Ont.; step-granddaughter, Brandi MacQuarrie, Whitby Ont., step-grandsons, Sam Parsons and Steven Parsons, both of Markham, Ont.; brothers, Gregory Kim Brown (Audrey), Mississauga, Ont.; Gary Frank Brown, Dartmouth; aunt, June Cameron (Fred MacDonald), Amherst; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brother, Glen Brown. Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased. Visitation will be held from noon until time of service at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, both in Allen’s Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, Rev. Byron Corkum officating. Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or First Baptist Church, Amherst Memorial Fund.
