WILSON, LAURIN WILLIAM - The death of Laurin Wilson of Gondola Point Rd., Rothesay, husband of Gladys M. (Jones) Wilson, occurred on Wednesday, May 4th, 2005, at his residence. Born in Kingston, New Brunswick he was the son of the late Frederick Wilson and Grace M. (Redstone) Wilson. Laurin was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the N.B. Rangers and Lorne Scots Regiments. He worked with Higgins & Wilson Refrigeration from 1946 - 1981 and through this time, became owner and President. He also served on the Advisory Board with the Department of Labour concerning refrigeration policies and procedures. Laurin was a renowned Master of Industrial and Commercial refrigeration and an accomplished machinist and control wiring technician. In his leisure time, Laurin's passions included woodworking and gardening, and as a skilled craftsman he produced many outstanding pieces of furniture. Along with this love, he handcrafted a cabin cruiser of which he and Glad enjoyed many trips up the Saint John and Kennebecasis Rivers. Laurin was gifted in so many ways and so many trades - he could set his skilled hands to any task with detailed perfection. Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Kenneth L. Wilson (Patricia) of Rothesay, N.B., daughter, Pixie L. Wilson-Trip (Pieter) of Brockville, ON, grandson Christopher Wilson, granddaughters Jillian Wilson and Nyssa Trip and many nieces and nephews. Laurin's brother Edward, Charles and Bernard and sisters Annie, Grace and Faith predeceased him. Laurin was the last surviving member of his immediate family. As a request of the family, there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, on May 7th at 11:00AM. Burial services will follow at Rothesay Baptist cemetery, Gondola Point.
