Doreen Bernice Ripley (Brayley) Doreen Bernice Ripley (Brayley), age 69, of Amherst passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008 following a brief illness at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late William and Vida (Willigar) Brayley. She enjoyed crafts such as quilting, crocheting, knitting, gardening, watching hockey, assisting her son Danny and her husband, Jack at the Rip - Tide Bait and Tackle Shop and spending time with her family. Doreen was a long time school crossing guard for the West Highlands School, known to the students as the "Crossing Guard Lady. " Doreen was always ready to help everyone in need before she took care of herself. She will always be remembered for her great sense of humor. Doreen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons, David (Lindy), Danny (Misty) both of Amherst and Michael (Edythe) of Springhill; one daughter, Jacqueline (Jim) Ripley of Perth Andover NB; brother in law Terry (Nancy) Ripley of Amherst; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Johnson (Jack) Cardy Ripley (2008); daughter, Peggy Sue Ripley; sisters, Phyllis Fife and Mona Crossman; brothers, Ralph and Lester. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). A private family graveside service for Doreen and Jack will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations in Doreen's memory may be made to the charity of your choice. www.campbells-amherst.ca
