STEVENS, FERNE RITE, RN - Ferne Stevens of Fredericton, NB, wife of the late George Stevens, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on May 28, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Born in Chipman, NB she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Bella (Carlin) Glenn. Ferne began her nursing career in Woodstock, NB followed by a number of years in Windsor, ON. She returned to The Victoria Public Hospital in Fredericton, NB in 1960 and became Head Nurse of Pediatrics and continued in this capacity at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital until her retirement. Ferne is survived by her son, Glenn (Carol) and granddaughter Skye of Stayner, ON: daughter Dawn and granddaughter Whitney of Hudson, PQ; brother Otty (Phyliss) of Chipman, NB; sisters Tilly Boyd of Fredericton, NB, Helen Carpenter of Hampton, NB, and Juanita (Wendell) Ladd of Moncton, NB; sister's-in-law Arlene and Janet Glenn of Fredericton, NB and many nieces and nephews who were always a comfort and joy to her. In addition to her husband and parents, Ferne was predeceased by brothers Holly, Everett and Vernon Glenn; sisters Bernice McLeod and Muriel Boyd. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Sunday May 29th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday May 30th at 11am from York Funeral Home's T Gordon McLeod Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gil McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow at the Chipman United Church Cemetery, Chipman, NB.
