Elmer W. Chase AMHERST - Chase; Elmer W. Chase, 83, of Amherst passed away on Monday, January 29, 2007 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in Rockley he was a son of the late Aubrey & Annie (Bowser Chase) Elmer owned and operated Chase's Backhoe Co. for many years. In his younger years he was a truck mechanic and worked for the town of Amherst. He was a member of the Cumberland Co. Antique Car Association. He loved the water and enjoyed water skiing He is survived by a son, Douglas (Juanita) of Pinellase Park, Florida; a sister, Marion Slater of B.C. a brother Vernon of Guelph, ON; two grandsons: Paul Chase & Matthew Chase; many nieces and nephews; caregivers: Donna Sweeney (Jack) of Amherst. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his companion of 41 years, Velma Seaman, his wife, the former Pauline McNutt, a sister, Pauline Bilow and a brother Emerson Chase. His remains are resting at the Furlong Jones Chapel in Amherst with visiting hours Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. His funeral service will be held from the chapel on Friday, February 2, 2007 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Steve Longmoore officiating. Burial will take place in the Rockley cemetery at a later date.
