Elsye Anjus McKillop Reese LONDON, Ont. - Elsye Anjus McKillop Reese (Coleman) of London and formerly of St. Thomas passed away peacefully on her birthday with her children by her side in Parkwood Hospital, London, on Monday, Nov. 12, 2007. She was born in Joggins, N.S. graduated from Dalhousie University, traveled in Europe before spending the last 57 years in Southeastern Ontario. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Duncan (Carolyn) McKillop, Summerside, P.E.I.; Jane (Frank) Coffey, Kingston, Ont.; Charlotte Arbuckle, Calgary, Alta.; Martha (Michael) Khan, Bangor, North Wales; and Anne (Peter) McKillop-Ostrom of Ottawa. Grandma will be sadly missed by Julia, Ian, Graeme and Jane McKillop; Edward, Anne, Thomas and Margaret Coffey; Natasha and Alyssa Arbuckle; Michaela and Madison Khan; Blair and Nicola Ostrom. She was predeceased by her parents, William Harmon Coleman and Mary Jane (Trask) Coleman, as well as her sister, Mary Susan (Coleman) Bloxham, and sister-in-law Mary (McKillop) Robertson. She is fondly remembered by her brother David (Millicent) Coleman of Amherst, N.S., and brother-in-law William Bloxham of Squamish, B.C., sister-in-law Nancy McKillop of Toronto, brother-in-law Angus Robertson of Toronto, as well as nieces, nephews and many close friends from coast to coast. Elsye demonstrated a zest for life, love of travel, and passion for the fine arts, which included poetry, drama, paintings and ballet. She cherished the time she spent in her garden and grounds, looked forward to the opportunities when she could entertain her many friends and family members and maintained her Maritime heritage. Family was very important to her as she enjoyed being a part of her grandchildren's and children's lives. Elsye was a woman of love, empathy and compassion. She had a generous spirit and treasured times when people around her would discuss her many passions and interests including politics, literature, fine art, travel and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Friends and family will be received at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 between the hours of 4 and 8 p.m. A memorial service to celebrate Elsye's life will be held at the Joggins United Church during the summer of 2008. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the City of London to be earmarked for the Springbank Rose Garden.
