AMHERST – It is with great sadness that the Dickie family announced the passing of Eugene Moest, 68, of Amherst, formerly of River Philip, on Saturday, July 26, 2008. Born in Bern, Switzerland on May 3, 1940, he was the son of the late Eugene Moest Sr., and the late Edith (Luscher) Moest. He was also predeceased by sister Edie Dykens and nephew Ronald Wade Dykens. He is survived by his loving sister, Susan (Floyd) Dickie; nephews Michael (Laura) Dickie; Darren (Shannon) Dickie, and Greg Dickie; brother-in-law Glen Dykens; niece Sherry Wheaton and family. He will also be greatly missed by great-nieces Julia and Hanna, and great-nephew Austin, all of whom Gene loved to spend time with. Gene had a great love for the outdoors and enjoyed being active and spending time with his friends and family. He spent his early years working at the Cobequid Lumber Mill and then at the family farm until he retired. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 30 at 2 p.m. at Allen’s Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, K. Ruth Gamble officiating. Burial will take place in Glenville Cemetary with a reception to follow at the River Philip Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s memory may be made to the LA Cumberland County Animal Shelter, IWK?Health Centre Foundation or a charity of your choice.
