HAWKES, DORIS - The death of Doris Marie Hawkes, of 791 Ontario Street, Saint John, occurred on Monday, August 8, 2005 after a lengthy illness at home followed by a brief stay in the Palliative Care Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the Late William and Esabella Jean (Rose) Oliver. Doris owned and operated a corner grocery store in Lancaster Vale with her Late husband, Howard (1998), for thirty years. She was a loving mother to her two sons, Ralph (Pat) of Hartland, NB and Douglas (Janis) of Saint John, NB; and to stepdaughter Donna Reid of Moncton, NB. Doris will be sadly missed by her six grandchildren: Kathy, Gayle, Tanya, Tracey, Amie, and Christopher, as well as by her several great-grandchildren. She is survived by two brothers, Murray Oliver (Frances) and Norman Oliver (Sandra). Doris also leaves behind two sisters as well, Lois McHarg (John) and Rose Johnston (Ken). Doris is predeceased by two brothers, George and Glendon Oliver. Resting at the Castle Funeral Home, Fallsview Chapel, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701) on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Fallsview Chapel on Thursday, August 11, 2005 at 11 o'clock. Interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens with reception following at the Fallsview Reception Centre, 293 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
