M. ELIZABETH ROY
ROY, M. ELIZABETH - M. Elizabeth Roy (nee Hamilton) beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend died Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the Calgary Rockyview Hospital just shy of her 92 birthday. She will be greatly missed, especially by her family: Elizabeth, Pat and Emily Dolan; Caroline, Stephen and Colleen Brown, Stephen Brown and Nancy Lisi; Constance Roy, Doug, Curtis and Leslie Schramm; Jim Roy, Wendy Anderson, Kathy Mason, Sterling Haugen, Josh Roy and Joanna, Jacob, and Alex Brennan, Ben Roy, Rebecca, Garrett and Olivia Wakefield, Samantha Lazier; George, Mary-Ann, April and George Roy, Anna-Marie, Barry, James and Hannah Westervelt, Morgan and David Andrich; Noel and Ruth Hamilton and cousins from coast to coast. Her husband of fifty-two years, George, died in 1995. Born in Saint John NB, Elizabeth was an accomplished musician - piano and voice teacher, organist and choir director in Saint John, Winnipeg, Calgary and Toronto; in Anglican, United and Presbyterian churches. Until recently, she was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, having founded chapters in several cities. Always service oriented, Elizabeth once aided her new, army husband looking after survivors from torpedoed ships in the Gulf of St. Lawrence during World War II. A memorial service celebrating Elizabeth's life will be held Monday, August 22 at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 703 Heritage Dr. S.W. Calgary T2V 2W4, at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Andrew's Memorial Fund, Presbyterian World Service and Development or to a charity of your choice.
