George Alfred Kizer AMHERST - George Alfred Kizer age 92 of Amherst passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in St. John, N.B., he was a son of the late Manard and Clara (Tower) Kizer. George was a veteran of World War II, where he served overseas and later was employed at Enheat, Amherst for many years until his retirement due to failing health. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10, Amherst for 48 years. George was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his sons, James (Lois) and John both of Amherst; daughters, Shirley McArthur of Ormocto, NB and Donna MacDonald of Edmonton, AB; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his wife the former Marjorie Brown; two daughters, Cheryl Kizer and Gina Clark; brothers, Bob and Ted; sisters, Edna Rushton, Ruth Brown, Edith Kizer and Dorothy MacDonnell; grandson, James Kizer and granddaughters, Lori MacDonald and Angela Cluney. Family and friends are invited to gather at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) on Saturday, April 5, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 10 tribute service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. from Campbell’s Chapel with Archdeacon Glenn Eason officiating. Interment will take place in the spring in the Amherst Cemetery. Donations in George’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. www.campbells-amherst.ca
