OLSEN, JOY (THORNTON) - On Sunday, September 11, 2005, Joy (Thornton) Olsen, loving wife of Tony Olsen, passed away peacefully at Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, she was daughter of Joan (Staplehurst) and the late Guy Thornton. Joy is the dear mother of Melanie, Jeffery, and Jason. She is survived by her siblings Keith (Marie) Thornton, Sharron Burris (Robert), Susan Thibodeau (Leo), David Thornton (Kathy), Peter Thornton, and Paul Parent (Sonya), all of the Saint John area. Joy will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and close relatives and friends - especially by her childhood friend Rose White. She also leaves behind her father-in-law Reginald Olsen and sister-in-law Rose Anne Oland (George) and is predeceased by her brother Barry Thornton, her sister Sheila Parent, and by her mother-in-law Hilda Olsen. Resting at Castle Funeral Home Fallsview Chapel, 309 Lancaster Ave., (634-1701) with visitation Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Manawagonish Road, Saint John on Thursday, September 15, 2005 at 1 o'clock. Interment at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Donations in memory of Joy may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Kidney Foundation.
