FARTHING, JOHN ALLAN - The death of John A. Farthing, husband of Karen (Parker) Farthing, occurred on September 13, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Moncton he was the son of the late J. Harold and Marion P. (Berrie) Farthing. He was a graduate of UNB receiving his BA, BEd, and MEd. He was employed with School Board District #8 for over 21 years and retired from the Provincial Department of Education, Fredericton, in 2001. Besides his wife he is survived by his sisters Shirley O'Connor of Halifax, Sharen Farthing of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. Although there will not be visiting following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), the memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2005, at 2:00 pm, from Portland United Church. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances made to St. Joseph's Hospital Geriatric Unit or Portland United Church Benevolent Fund would be appreciated. www.brenansfh.com
