WARNER, ANNA AGATHA (HUGHES) - Anna Agatha (Hughes) Warner, widow of John Edward Warner QC, daughter of Mr. Justice Peter J. and Catherine (Hanebry) Hughes, died peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton on Tuesday, October 4, 2005. Born on June 4, 1917, Anna was predeceased by her parents, her husband, John, and her sisters Dorothy King (Coulter), Margaret Dunphy (Basil), Josephine Holahan (John); brother, John Hughes (Marion) and nephew, Peter Hughes. Anna is survived by her sister, Isabel Hoyt (Melbourne); her sister-in-law, Marion Hughes (John); brother-in-law, Clifford G. Warner; sisters-in-law, Lenore Warner, Eileen Cole (Bliss) and Dorothy Anne Vachon (Pierre); nephews and nieces, Noreen Hayes (Paul), John Hughes (Joanne), Anne Bourassa (Gene) and Mary Davis (William), Peter Dunphy (Marion), Michael Dunphy, Patricia Malone (Mr. Justice Brian) and several nieces and nephews in her husband's extended family. Anna attended the University of New Brunswick and graduated from Mount St. Bernard (University of St. Francis-Xavier) in 1941 with a B.Sc. in Home Economics. After an internship at Saint John General Hospital, she was appointed Chief Dietitian at the PEI Hospital in Charlottetown and later held the same position at the Saint John General. Once married, she worked as a Dietitian at Victoria Public and Chalmers Hospitals in Fredericton until her retirement in June 1982. Charming, generous, funny and kind, Anna will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her extended family and many friends, particularly Janice McLaughlin and Gretchen Estey, two outstanding caregivers who became her very close friends over a period of ten years. Special thanks to Dr. Russell King, the staff of 4SE at the Chalmers Hospital, VON Nurse, Flo Bowser and the Extra-Mural nurses and to Vera McAloon, Eucharistic Minister to Anna for the last ten years. Visitation will be held at McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 6, 2005 from St. Dunstan's Catholic Church at 12:00 noon with Rev. Gerald White officiating, assisted by Rev. Ken Weir. Interment will take place at the Hermitage Cemetery.
