EVANS, VIOLA G. - The death of Viola Gertrude (Galbraith) Evans, of Saint John, wife of the late Melvin Evans, occurred on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Lorneville, NB, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Ethel (Reid) Galbraith. Viola was a life long member of Lorneville United Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, sewing and trailering in the Cambridge Narrows. She is survived by two sons: Leon (Nancy) Evans of Saint John, Lorne (Kathleen) Evans of Lorneville; two daughters: Grace (James) Alexander of Lorneville, Anna Clare Best of Saint John; fourteen grandchildren, twenty three great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by five sisters: Beulah, Margaret, Hilda, Audrey and Eleanor; two brothers: Winnifred and Lester; one son-in-law, Ernest Best and one grandson, Michael. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7425) with visiting on Sunday, October 23, 2005 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2005 from Bay View Funeral Home Chapel at 3:00 pm. Interment will take place in Lorneville Community Cemetery.
