MacNEIL, HUGH A. - The death of Hugh A. MacNeil, husband of the late M. Olive (Martin) MacNeil, of Fredericton, NB, occurred on December 6, 2005 at Windsor Court, Fredericton, NB. Born on June 26, 1916 in North Sydney, NS, he was a son of the late Hector and Margaret (MacDonald) MacNeil. Mr. MacNeil was a graduate of St. Frances Xavier University and the University of New Brunswick. He retired in 1976 from being a school teacher, mainly at St. Malachy's in Saint John, and moved to Fredericton in 1999, also living in St. Andrew's and St. George, NB. Mr. MacNeil was married in 1942 and was a member of St. Theresa's Church. He enjoyed his family. He is survived by four daughters, Bonnie Eagan of Ottawa, ON, Brenda Noftell of Brunei, Ann MacNeil of Fredericton, NB, Mary MacNeil of Thurold, ON; seven grandchildren, Jonathan (Wenna) Eagan, Tamara (Rick) Dunn, Angela Firlotte, Stephanie (Darrell) Hurst, Jeremy (Rebecca) Noftell, Stacey (Cris Guadarrama) Arnold and Jennifer Noftell; five great-grandchildren, Dominique Firlotte, Kate Noftell, Eli Hurst, Claire Noftell and Ben Noftell; two sisters, Kaye Doyle (Terrance) of Niagara Falls, ON and Marie Floyd of Sydney, NS; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one son, John Hugh MacNeil; one daughter, Judith Ann MacNeil; three brothers, John (infant), Roderick (Rod) and Ronald; and one sister, Margaret McCormick. Although there will be no visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2005 at 11 am from St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, Fredericton, NB with Father John Jennings as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Saint John, NB. In lieu of flowers, remembrances made to the New Brunswick Lung Association or to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
