AKERLEY, ELSIE (CAMPBELL) (McGAGHEY) - It is with great sadness that the family of Elsie Akerley announces her passing after a courageous battle with cancer on December 18, 2005 at the SJRH. Born in Saint John March 19, 1928 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Annie Campbell, beloved wife of the late Willard Akerley, loving mother to her daughter; Carolyn Touchbourne (Jim) of Crafts Cove, one son; Gregory McGaghey (Lee) of Calgary, two stepsons; William Akerley (Marjorie) of Belleisle Creek and Aubrey Akerley (Doreen) of Cambridge Narrows, three stepdaughters; Marilyn Murphy (Bob) of Quispamsis, Ruth McQuinn (David) of Saint John and Krista Galbraith (Ross) of Saint John. She was the precious grandmother to 19 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Predeceased by granddaughter Tiffany Murphy, grandson Edward Akerley, her brothers Charles Campbell and Floyd Adams. Elsie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a loving and caring aunt to several special nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her forever friend and cousin Lillian Bennett. Elsie enjoyed being with family and enjoyed the simple things in life. She was a friend to all and touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Our memories of her will live forever in our hearts. Resting at A. W. Cavanagh Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday in the A.W. Cavanagh Chapel at 11:00 am followed by interment in Ocean View Cemetery and a reception at A. W. Cavanagh's.
