HORNCASTLE, ROBERT F. - The death of Robert F. Horncastle of Hampton, husband of Dorothy "Dot" (Proctor) Horncastle occurred December 19, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born in Fairville, son of the late Freeman and Josephine (Conway) Horncastle. Bob was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the Royal Canadian Navy. He retired in 1972 after twenty five years of service in the R.C.N. He then worked for a number of years for CIBC, Saint John and his last position was Secretary-Treasurer of NB Command, Royal Canadian Legion. He was a Life Member of the Royal Canadian Naval Association; member of Hampton Branch #28, Royal Canadian Legion, and member of the Atlantic Chief and Petty Officers Association. Bob was a member of Church of the Ascension, Hampton and was a director of Hampton Senior Resource Centre. Surviving besides his wife Dorothy are one daughter Susan Horncastle, Dartmouth; three sons Alan Horncastle (Jo-Ann), Saint John, Robert Horncastle Jr., Hampton, Paul Horncastle (Anne), Winnipeg; four grandsons BJ, Jamie, Brendan, Joey; two step-granddaughters Cari-Ann and Hannah; two sisters Mary Gamblin, Saint John, Alice MacDonald (A.L. "Mac"), New Hampshire; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter Beverley. Resting at Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton. The funeral will be held Thursday, 11:00 am at Church of the Ascension, Hampton, with Rev. Bob LeBlanc officiating. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Memorials to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated. Visiting 7-9pm Tuesday and 2-4pm & 7-9pm Wednesday. A Legion tribute will be held Wednesday, 6:45pm at the funeral home.
