Sackville, N.B. - With great sadness, the family of Howard Amos, age 68, of Sackville announce his passing on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008. Born in Sackville, he was a son of the late Gerald and Hazel (Wilson) Amos. Howard worked as a Prison Guard in Dorchester for 33 years. He was a member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, and enjoyed a card game and gardening. Howard will be sadly missed by his wife of 48 years, the former Carol Matheson, Sackville; a son, Howard Jr., Sackville; a daughter, Helen (Michael) Wilson, Sackville and a granddaughter, Emily. He was predeceased by two brothers, Malcolm and Francis; and two sisters, Joanne and Paulette. Howard’s remains have been cremated under the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300). A time of visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday night from 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service was held at the Jones Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at 2 p.m., Chaplain Allan Sears officiating. Burial will be in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring. Sackville Branch # 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion held a memorial service on Monday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. www.jonesfuneralhome.ca
