CONSTANCE SHIRLEY HEANS

HEANS, CONSTANCE SHIRLEY - 87, Coldbrook, Kings Co. N.S., formerly of Aylesford, Kings Co., N.S. passed away on January 23, 2006, in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, N.S. Born in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Daniel R. and Dorothy (Carleton) Usher of Martinon, N.B., and the last surviving member of her immediate family. Prior to her marriage to Gordon, Shirley worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia in West Saint John. Gordon's work afforded her the opportunity to reside in various locations within the Atlantic region. Upon their retirement, in 1977, they moved to Aylesford, Kings Co., N.S. At the time of her death, she was residing with her son Richard and his family in Coldbrook, N.S. She was a member of Aylesford United Church and a life member of the United Church Women. She held offices in both the Red Cross Society and the Canadian Cancer Society in the Aylesford-Auburn Area. She derived great pleasure doing volunteer work in the church and community, entertaining, and spending time with family and friends, playing scrabble, and solving the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper. All who knew her will fondly remember her warm smile and charming wit. She is survived by her son Richard (Sandra) Coldbrook, N.S. and their children Christopher and Andrea; daughter Barbara, Baxters Harbour, N.S. and her children Jennifer and Mitchell; and sister-in-law Marion Usher, Fredericton, N.B. Her husband Gordon, and, brothers Rev. Rupert Usher and Richard, in infancy, predeceased her. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held at the H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 192 Commercial St., Berwick, N.S., B0P 1E0 (902-538-9900) on January 27, 2005 at 2 p. m., Pastor Kay Dean D.M. officiating with a reception to follow. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery, Saint John, N.B., at a later date. No flowers by request.
