ALFRED MARTIN

MARTIN, ALFRED - Bruce, Barbara and Joan regret to announce the death of their Dad Alfred Martin. Dad is finally with wife Doris who was his wife and devoted companion of sixty years. Dad died on Monday February 6, 2006 at home with his children and pet Midnight at his side. We would also like to thank his neighbor Carol for her assistance and the Extra Mural for their continued help especially Yolanda. Born 1919 in Fairville, NB he was the son of the late Samuel and Mary (McPhee) Martin. Alfred was a Veteran of WWII a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 53, Knights of Columbus Council 6595 and the Lions Seniors Club. He worked for the Federal Government as a Superintendent of Public Works for 20 years, retiring in 1985. He is survived by his son Bruce (Dale) of Quispamsis; daughters Joan Fillmore (Don) of Quispamsis and Barbara Duncan (Paul) of Saint John; brother Robert Martin (Helen) of Saint John; sisters Delta Ackerson, Theresa Killen of Saint John and Ilene Snyder (John) of Quispamsis; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother James Martin and sister Eva Mason. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday February 9, 2006 at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. The family would appreciate donations made to the charity of the donor's choice. A tribute to a Veteran Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
