SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. - The death occurred peacefully at the Palliative Care Unit of the Prince County Hospital on Thursday, August 2, 2007, of Evert R. Goodwin, commonly known as Donnie Sailor of 190 Rogers Ave., Summerside, P.E.I., and formerly of Cape Traverse, at age 76 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Gayle (Burton) Goodwin. Born in Baie Verte, N.B., on Aug. 2, 1931, he was a son of the late W. Marple Goodwin and Dana (Goodwin) Goodwin. He is survived by a sister, Geneva Goodwin of Sackville, N.B.; a cousin, Gail (James) Chapman of Baie Verte; several nieces and nephews; and by his special pet dogs, Kaylee and Bambie. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Noreen Burton of Summerside, Patricia (Rico) Dilio, Montreal, Jenny (Fred) Coward, Montreal, and Mary (Charles) Julina, Montreal; and by brothers-in-law Gerald Burton, Ottawa, and Gerald Haley, Summerside. Resting at Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora, with visiting hours Sunday, 7-9 p.m., and funeral was on Monday, August 6 at St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay, with funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery. Donations may be made in Evert's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
