ELDRIDGE, DORIS I. W. - Passed away unexpectedly April 18, 2006 after a long period of failing health. Born in Saint John on February 12, 1923, she was the last surviving child of Earnest and Sophia (Porter) Cannon. She was predeceased by parents, four brothers, Eric, Stan, Gordon and Frank, one daughter; Christina and an infant son. Raised in Saint John, NB she went on to reside in Halifax, NS, Montreal, PQ, Beaver Harbour, NB, Toronto, Ont and Musquash, NB when she then settled in Bonny River, NB for 28 years before spending her last 13 years at Mill Cove Nursing Home. She was married and divorced twice and held a variety of jobs from shipyard worker to fish plant employee. She was a lifelong supporter of the SPCA. She is survived by one son; Stephen Eldridge of St. George, NB and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by many dear friends whom she made over a long life. Following cremation, visitation will be held at A.W. Cavanagh Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) on Friday, April 21, 2006 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm in Cavanagh's Chapel.
