LAWRENCE HENRY DOUGAN

DOUGAN, LAWRENCE HENRY - Surrounded by his loving family, Mr. Lawrence Henry Dougan, husband of the late Mildred Gertrude (Justason) Dougan, died at his residence in Blacks Harbour, NB on April 21, 2006. Born in Victoria, BC on May 23, 1919, he was a son of the late David Henry Dougan and Margaret (Alderdice) Dougan, both of Belfast, Ireland. He leaves to mourn his special companion, Anita Hennessey; his loving children, three daughters, Peggy (Murvin) Matheson of Back Bay, Carol Dougan of Blacks Harbour, Kathy (Bob) Peters of Quispamsis and five sons, Daniel (Judy) of Riverview, Mike (Marsha) of Blacks Harbour, Tim (Lori) of St. George, Peter (Diane) of Pennfield and Kenny (Pati) of Blacks Harbour; 14 beloved grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert Dougan of Souris, BC; extended family, Artie (Kathy) Hennessey of Blacks Harbour, Laura Skodje of Blacks Harbour and Susan (Rob) Mahoney of Pennfield; nine honorary grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Larry was predeceased by an infant daughter, Barbara and two brothers, David and Jim. Larry served in the R.C.A.F. in Pennfield, NB, Calgary, AB and Scoodic, NB as a firefighter. From there he came to Blacks Harbour to work for Connors Bros. Ltd. for 26 years, retiring as a foreman in the fishmeal plant. Larry was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Blacks Harbour Branch #39, the Brunswick Curling Club and the St. Stephen Golf Club. He was an avid dart player. Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (506-755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB E5C 3L6 with visiting on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Blacks Harbour at 2 pm on Sunday, with Rev. Bruce Alcorn officiating. Following intement in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery, friends and family are invited back to the church for a reception.
