JUANITA PERLEY

PERLEY, JUANITA - Of Tobique First Nation passed away unexpectedly at St. Joseph Hotel Dieu Hospital on April 27, 2006. Born in Tobique First Nation on February 22, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Noel and Jennie (Saulis) Moulton. Juanita is survived by her children Lorna (Edward) Springer of Fredericton, Gina (Bert) deVink of Fredericton, Suzie (Kevin) Cleary of Bangor, Maine, Karen (Terry) Sappiel of Bangor, Maine, Perry Perley Sr., Ivan D. Perley (Debbie), Retired Police Special Cst. Shawn Carmichael, Adrian Perley (Hope) all of Tobique First Nation. She was predeceased by her husband Ivan Perley, daughters Andrea and Jayne Perley, and her son Hal Perley. Juanita was a member of the Native Women's Association and a writer. She was also a Turtle Clan Mother, a medicine woman, a sweatkeeper, and enjoyed organizing children's activities. She was very active in teaching the traditional culture and knowledge. Resting at her home, 285 Main St., Tobique First Nation, NB until the time of the service. The Traditional Native Service will be held on Sunday April 30, 2006 at 1pm from the Nation House. Interment will be in the Traditional Indian Burial Ground. Arrangements by Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
