WALLACE HAROLD GALLOP
GALLOP, WALLACE HAROLD- Wallace Harold Gallop, 79, of Hartland, New Brunswick, Canada died Saturday, May 6 at his home. Mr. Wallace was born December 25, 1926 in Thomaston, CT son of the late Harold Gordon and Dortha Jane (Wright) Gallop. He was the husband of Wesselina M. (Ris) Gallop. Mr. Gallop attended Euclid Shore High School in Euclid, Ohio from 1941-1943 but graduated from Fort Fairfield Maine High School and Post Junior College in Waterbury. He was a World War II and Korean War Veteran serving in the US Navy. He was a rural mail carrier in Bethlehem, CT from 1958 to 1983. He was the founder of the Litch-Haven Babe Ruth League and was president of the league for over 22 years. He coached Bethlehem Babe Ruth for 23 years. He was the founder of the Bethlehem Recreation Committee. He was the treasurer and manager of the Watertown Comm. Federal Credit Union and was class president of the Northeast Credit Union School; University of New Hampshire. He was a Life Member of the American Legion Post 146 in Bethlehem and had served as its Commander from 1977-1978 and he was the Connecticut sixth district American Legion Commander in 1979. He was also a life member of the VFW Post 6187 in Fort Fairfield, Maine. Besides his wife his is survived by two sons, Gregory L. Gallop of Thomaston, CT, Geoffrey A.. Gallop of Waterbury, CT, five daughters, Bonnie L. Gallop of Plymouth, Brenda R Schaller of Bishopville, MD, Sheila M. Gallop of Brewer, ME., Patti A Sasse of Raleigh, NC, Carla R. Gallop of Waterbury a brother Lawrence Gallop of Fort Fairfield, ME and sister Audry Neligh of Hope, IN, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son Gordon Gallop. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 12 at 10:00am at the Church of the Nativity, East Street, Bethlehem. Burial with full military honors will be held at the Bethlehem Cemetery. The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St., is in charge of arrangements.
