HAROLD B. STACKHOUSE
STACKHOUSE, HAROLD B. - It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Brady Stackhouse, loving Husband, Father and Grandfather. Harold passed peacefully in his sleep at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 4, 2006 with family at his side. Harold was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on August 4, 1933. He was raised and schooled there, attending Saint John High School where he received numerous awards and trophies in Basketball, Wrestling, Gymnastics and Diving. Harold attended Sir George Williams College in Montreal where he pursued a lifelong career in the area of Physical Health and Fitness. Harold can best be remembered for being instrumental in the development of young minds and bodies through his leadership in the YMCA Organizations both in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia as well as Port Arthur and Fort William. As Executive Director of the YMCA for many years, Harold retired in 1994 from the Northwest Regional Centre where he was able to enrich the lives of those less fortunate. Harold's passion and commitment to Physical Fitness touched the lives of all who met him. Following the retirement, Harold's greatest joy was the arrival of his three grandchildren. Harold will be lovingly remembered by his wife of forty-six years, Shirley; Harold will also be missed greatly by his two sons, Perry (Tannice), Donald (Mary); grandsons: Brody, Devin, Brett, and Nicholas; step-grandchildren: Tyler, Amanda and Samantha; brothers: Ron and Bruce; sisters: Muriel, Marjorie, Laura, Edith, Evelyn, of Saint John, New Brunswick and sister Linda in Ottawa. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his parents Annie and James; brothers: Fred, George, Ed, and Lloyd. Funeral Services for the late Harold Stackhouse will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10th, 2006 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Ivany. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Harold's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation of Canada Thunder Bay Support Group, or to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.
