RODERICK CLIFFORD TRAVIS

TRAVIS, RODERICK CLIFFORD - 72 years of age, died suddenly on May 19, 2006. Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Clifford and Helen (Bowser) Travis. Rod retired in 1994 from N.S. Geomatics. He was an energetic volunteer in the community. Rod received a 35 year service award for scouting. He also volunteered for many years in the Minor Hockey Program. Rod was an active, vital member of Trinity-St. Stephen's United Church and a member of the Chignecto Presbytery. He served on the Board of Directors of Camp Ta-Wa-Si. He was an avid outdoorsman and traveller. Rod is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five children and their families: Alan and Tina Travis of Rothesay; Heather and Bill Murphy, and their children Raymond, Alley and Casey of Antigonish; Sandy and Chris Hopkins, and their children Ian and Ryan of Montague, P.E.I.; Brian and Heather Travis and their children Mitchell and Blake of Timberlea, N.S., Karen, and Bill Dempsey of St. Stephen, N.B. and step children Jody, Julie and Jill, and their families. Also surviving are Rod's brothers and sisters; Weldon and Nancy Travis of East Amherst, Lorna and Keith Crowe of Southampton, Carolyn and Arthur Phinney of Paradise, N.S., Ruthie and Robin Phillips of Truro and Eleanor Travis of Bedford, N.S. His family will receive visitors at Trinity-St. Stephen's United Church/Burgess Hall, Amherst on Monday, May 22, 2006 from 2-4 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m. Arrangement entrusted to Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, N.S.
