Sackville, N.B. - Linda Melanson, wife of Alfred (Fred) Joseph Melanson of Sackville, N.B., passed away peacefully at the Georges Dumont Hospital on September 27, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born March 27, 1948 in Saint John, N.B., she was the daughter of the Late Joseph Ulysse Robichaud and Virginia Rowena (nee Baker) Robichaud. Linda was a former employee of Atlantic Wholesalers Ltd (Loblaws) of Sackville, N.B. where she was employed for 25 years, first as a data entry/general office clerk and then mainframe computer operator. Until her death, she was an active member of the Lions Club of Sackville and a Life member of Lions Clubs International and Lions Foundation of Canada. She joined the Lions Organization first as a member of the Lioness Club of Sackville, holding every office of that club as well as many offices in the Lioness District, the highest of which was District Vice President. Upon becoming a member of the Sackville Lions Club in 1993, she held every office of the club and became very active as well in the Lions District holding several offices and chairing several committees. The highest office she attained in the Lions District was Vice-District Governor 2006-2007. She is the recipient of many club and District awards for distinctive service and leadership as well as a recipient of three International President's Certificates of appreciation. In April 2007, she was honored with a Lions Foundation of Canada Fellowship Award by her home club. She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted husband Fred; three wonderful step children, Brenda (Wade), Stephen (Tracy), and Sandra. She is also survived by her loving mother Virginia; a brother Edward (Simone); sisters, Janet (Bernard) and Susan; five grandsons, Jason, Nicholas, Bradley, Brendan and Connor, of whom she was always proud; and two lovely great granddaughters, Madeline and Makayla. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Ulysse Robichaud in 1992. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, N.B. (364-1300), where all were invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 from 7 to 9 p.m. The Memorial Service will take place from the Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 2 p.m., Father Allison Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery. The Sackville Lions Club held a memorial service at the Jones Funeral Home Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the DOGGUIDES (The Lions Foundation of Canada), the Tree of Hope Campaign (Dr. Georges L.
