Lt. Sherry Gillespie

Lt. Sherry A. Gillespie died peacefully on Sept. 8, 2007, at the Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital in Moncton. Born in Sackville in 1949, she was the daughter of the late C. Ray and Madeline (Read) Long. Sherry was a member of the Cape Tormentine and Sackville Legions. Left to mourn will be her son James (Alison) of Halifax; best friend and caregiver Debbie Melanson; three brothers, Leaman (Fernande) of Farnham, PQ, Peter (Irene) of Sydney, Tim (Karen) of Sackville; three sisters, Donna (Ron) of Sackville, Leona (Brian) of Elgin, Kathy of Sackville; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and daughter Elizabeth. Visitation for Sherry was from Jones Funeral Home, Sackville, on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service was held on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. Following the funeral service, Sherry's remains were cremated and interred with her parents at the Sackville Cemetery. At the request of the family, donations in Sherry's memory can be made to the IWK Hospital or the Sackville Memorial Hospital Foundation. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of The Sackville Memorial Hospital, Dr. Murray, and the staff of the ICU of The Dr. Georges Dumont Hospital.
