Sackville, N.B. - It is with great sadness, the family of Marion (May) Johnson, age 92 announce her passing on Wednesday January 16, 2008. May passed away peacefully at the Drew Nursing Home, where she has resided for the past three years. May was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Kirkland) Harvie. Born in Kansas City, USA, she returned to Scotland at a very young age with her parents. Immigraging to Canada at age 15, she settled on a farm in Little Shemogue. Meeting the love of her life Irvine Johnson, a local boy, she spent her child rearing years there, retiring and moving to Moncton where she lived until the death of her husband in 1990. May then resided with her daughter Marsha until she took up residency in the Drew. Family was her life, and she was a wonderful mother and grandmother to her great and great great grand grandchildren. A wonderful cook, she kept her family healthy and warm with her quilting, knitting and sewing talents. May will be sadly missed by her seven children, Stewart (Pauline), Fredericton, Jean Sandell, Petit Cap, NB, Linda (Richard) Walton, Lady Smith, BC, Janette Johnson, N. Vancouver, BC, Marsha Holmes, Sackville, Betty Lacy, Ottawa, ON, and Keith (Carole), Surrey, BC; 16 grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; a sister Janet (Gerald) Campbell and a brother Bud (Kay) Harvie, both of Sarnia, ON. May was predeceased by her husband, Irvine in 1990 and by tragic drowning a son Andrew in 1962. May’s remains have been cremated under the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300). A memorial service was held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at 2 p.m. A reception and time of fellowship followed. May’s remains will be interred in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin in the spring.
