SCHLUTER, LORIN LEO - Lorin Leo Schluter, age 66, passed away Thursday, September 14, 2006 at his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis in the company and care of his loving wife, Joan. Lorin was born April 23, 1940 in Baraboo, WI, the son of Chester and Ida Mae (Accola) Schluter. Lorin was a 1958 graduate of Baraboo High School and attended Parks College in Illinois. He worked at American Motors in Kenosha, WI, before serving as a Jet Engine Mechanic on active duty in the United States Air Force. His last assignment was at Loring Air Force Base, ME, where he met and married Joan Beaulieu on October 15, 1965. Lorin retired from United Air Lines after a 34 year career as an aircraft line mechanic. During his career with United, Lorin and his O'Hare Field Maintenance work partner discovered the primary cause of DC 10 Jet Engine pod cracks which led to corrective action that no doubt saved many lives. Lorin had a passion for classic sports cars, loved attending Grand Prix Auto races and enjoyed traveling; but most of all, he loved spending time with his family. He was cared for at his home during his lengthy illness and is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his son, Terry (Kym) Schluter, Chino Hills, CA; his daughter, Kathy (John) Pope of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; his mother, Ida Mae (Emil) Erickson of Waunakee, WI; his sister, Sandra (John) Ward of Roscoe, IL; and six grandchildren. He is further survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by his father Chester B. Schluter and his father and mother-in-law, Richard and Kate Fournier. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 1 pm at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Perth-Andover, NB. Father Curtis Sappier officiating, assisted by Rev. Helene Burns. Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 pm at the church. Arrangements by Brunswick Funeral Home, Perth-Andover.
