DELANEY, GEORGE HAROLD - The death of George Delaney occurred on the 30th of July, 2006 in Ottawa where he was a resident of the Perley Rideau Veterans Health Care during the past three years. Born on March 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Harold and Beatrice (Knox) Delaney of Saint John. George served in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy from 1943 to 1945 and was an Able Seaman on the HMCS Baddeck. After the war he was employed for many years with the New Brunswick Printing & Publishing Co (Telegraph Journal) and later with the Ottawa Journal. He was a 40 year member of the International Typographical Union, and the Royal Canadian Legion. He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Gillis of Riverview, Audrey Ciccanti of Montreal, and Elaine Robinson (David) of St. Stephen, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Donald and Robert, and brothers-in-law Rev George Gillis and Joseph Ciccanti. Interment will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery on Thursday October 19th at 3 p.m. Prayers will be conducted at graveside by Rev Len Mills of Carleton Kirk United Church, with the Last Post played by nephew Cpl Ashley Robinson of the 3rd Field Artillery.
