GERTRUDE HELEN (CHESSER) CARSON
CARSON, GERTRUDE HELEN (CHESSER) - After a long, eventful and determined life, Gertrude Helen Chesser Carson died on October 24th 2006 at the Moncton Hospital. She was born on July 17th 1908 at Mann's Mountain, Restigouche County, NB. She was the daughter of Thomas and Eva (Moores) Chesser. She attended a one-room school at Mann's Mountain, Campbellton High School and the Provincial Normal School. She taught at several schools in New Brunswick, making life-long friends along the way. After her marriage to Herbert James Carson of Havelock, they operated the Carson Homestead farm in Springhill until ill health forced his retirement in 1972; at which time they relocated to Havelock Village. They had three daughters: Helen Louise, Gertrude Ann, Ellen Margaret. She is survived by her daughter Ellen, and her husband Lorne Finley of Ottawa, a sister-in-law Betty Chesser of Mississauga and many loved nieces and nephews and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Herbie, infant daughter Helen, and daughter Ann. She also predeceased her six brothers, John (Chateauguay), William (Campellton), Donald (Matapedia), Merritt (Tide Head), Kenneth (Montreal), Charles (Campellton), and her three sisters Beatrice Coote (Montreal), Kathleen Chesser (Campellton), and Elizabeth Gillis (Chateauguay). At her request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Havelock Baptist Church, Havelock NB on Saturday November 4th at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the church hall. For those who wish, donations in Gertrude's memory to the organization of your choice would be appreciated by her family. To whom can we turn now for the recollection of a line of poetry?
