DONALD HARRY PATRIQUEN
PATRIQUEN, DONALD HARRY - The death of Donald H. Patriquen, age 88, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre, on Tuesday, October 31st 2006. Don was the beloved husband of Vivian (Walker) Patriquen, of Norton, N. B. He was born in Boston, Mass. on September 7th 1918, the son of the late Wes & Jessie (Burns) Patriquen. Don served his community for 55 years, owning and operating a White Rose and then Shell Service Station, and people from far and wide knew him for his honesty, good service, a ready smile and great sense of humour. He was honoured many times by Shell Canada for his work with them. During WWII he served with the RCAF as an Aero Engine Mechanic and was a life member of the Norton Legion Branch #76. His church, St. Andrew's United, where he was always greeting people at the door, was also a very important part of his life. He served as an Elder and was on many boards. He was made an honorary life member. Don was always an active man. In his younger years, he played hockey. Ball games were the social event of the summer for the whole family. In later years he was an avid walker and cross-country skier. He always loved their cottage on the beautiful Belleisle Bay and, after retirement was able to enjoy the summers there with Vivian. Their home was a meeting place for family and friends. Don always enjoyed those times with his children, grand- children and, in later years his great-grandchildren. Being an only child, himself, his family was very important to him - especially his wife, who he loved dearly. Don loved the Lord and lived his life accordingly. He was a disciplined Christian, reading his Bible and praying daily. Don is survived by his wife; Vivian, of 65 years, son; Wayne and Christine, of Quispamsis and daughter, Sandy and Doug Hall, of Norton and grandchildren; Joel Patriquen, Nathan and Lori Patriquen, Melanie and Michael Waddell and Jayme and Donna Hall, eight great grandchildren, as well as special cousin; Elva (Loughery) Orchard and special friend; Russ Robertson.
