The family is saddened to announce the passing of Johnson "Jack" Cardy Ripley age 72 of Amherst on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan, NS.Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Laurie and Beulah (Rushton) Ripley. He was a member of the Amherst Police Department for 35 years. Jack joined in 1960 as a Constable, Sargent, acting Chief and retiring in 1995 as Deputy Chief. He co-owned and operated Rip - Tide Bait and Tackle Shop along with his son Danny.Jack was an avid hunter, fisher, gardner, fly tyer, conservationist and active member of Ducks Unlimited and the Cumberland County River Enhancement Association.Jack is survived by his loving wife the former Doreen Brayley; three sons, David (Lindy) and Danny (Misty) both of Amherst and Michael (Edythe) of Springhill, NS; one daughter; Jacqueline (Jim) Ripley of Perth Andover NB; one brother, Terry (Nancy) of Amherst; 8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Jack was predeceased by his daughter, Peggy Sue Ripley.By his request there will be no visitation or funeral service.Cremation has taken place under the direction of Campbell's Funeral Home, Amherst, NS (902-667-9906).In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's memory me be made to Cumberland County River Enhancement Association or charity of your choice. www.campbells-amherst.ca.
