MOWERY, BESSIE GERTRUDE - The death of Bessie Gertrude Mowery, wife of the late John V. Mowery, occured peacefully on November 21, 2006 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late William and Regina Maud (Hodgin) Malin. Bessie was known for her love of life, with summers spent at Caissie Cape and winters ice-skating. She was a member of a ladies only card club and in later years was a devoted member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. During her last year, because of being shut-in, she went back to her old favorite past time reading, and read two novels a day. She was always looking to see what new books you brought in for her. Surviving are her children, Anna Patterson of New Minas, NS, Barbara Johnson (Kenneth) of Saint John, Bruce Mowery (Sara) of Saint John, Cheryl Porter (Roger) of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday, November 23rd, 2006 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Following cremation the Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 24th, 2006 at 2:15 pm, from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
