
JOHN E. RATTRAY
RATTRAY, JOHN E. - The death of John E. Rattray of Passekeag, husband of Helen (Tays) Rattray occurred November 30, 2006 at his residence. He was born in Hazel Hill, Canso, NS, son of the late Harry and Emma (McDuff) Rattray. John was a veteran of Peace Keeping in Germany and was a member of Hampton Branch 28, Royal Canadian Legion. He was an Instructor of Heavy Equipment at Community College and worked at Strescon. John was a big fan of Tim Hortons. Surviving, besides his wife Helen, are three daughters, Nancy Marks (John), Bloomfield Ridge, Janet Walsh (Thomas), Hampton, Ann Marie Long (Mark), Bloomfield Ridge; one son, David Rattray (Rose), Passekeag; four sisters, Eira Currie, Amherst, NS, Flora Jokinen (Jack), Stow, Massachusetts, Louise Cote (John), Kentville, NS, Velma Burke (Norm), Vancouver Island; two brothers, Doug Rattray (Sally) and Arthur Rattray, Hazel Hill; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sons David Edward Rattray and Gary Edward Rattray in Germany, while John was stationed there. He was also predeceased by a sister Edith Specula and one brother Hutton David Rattray. There will be no visitation or funeral service by request. Memorials to Canadian Diabetes Association or NB Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. The arrangements have been entrusted to Reid's Funeral Home (832-5541), Hampton.
