Helen Mae "Honey" Smith

Aged 72 years, of Amherst and formerly of Springhill, passed away after a short, courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Nappan. Born and raised in River Hebert, she was the daughter of the Late Leo and Beatrice (Comeau) Melanson. Honey will be forever missed by her family and friends and has left her footprints on the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Honey enjoyed dancing, walking, and playing darts; more recently she enjoyed and took pleasure in having tea with her friends at the Guardian Drug Store. She was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. She is survived by her daughters, Jackie (Alan) Theal, Edmonton, Lois (Lester) MacKenzie and Tammy Hunter (Michael Moss) both of Amherst; sons, Paul (Louann) Smith and Ricky (Teresa) Smith both of Springhill, Johnny (Trudy) Melanson of Advocate, Scott Smith of Waterloo, Ontario, Gregory (Amanda) Belliveau of Williamsdale; thirteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren; brothers, Jude of Amherst, Dara and Clair of River Hebert; sister, Lorraine Clarke, Springhill; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Eugene and Basil and a sister Eileen. Visitation was held 7 - 9 Thursday, April 10, 2008 in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, from where the Funeral Service was held at 11:00 am on Friday, April 11, 2008 with Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial in North Street Roman Catholic Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Canadian Cancer Society or CRHCC Palliative Care would be greatly appreciated.
