Aged 86 years of High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2008 in All Saints Hospital, Springhill. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late Amos and Flora Belle (McEachern) McNutt. He was a veteran of WW II serving with the Cape Breton Highlanders for 4 years and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 17 Springhill. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, ATV's, snowmobiling and family.He is survived by sons, Eric (Carmella Vacon) McNutt and Mark (Angela) McNutt; daughter, Devonna (Harold) Beaton all of Springhill; brother, Hilton (Doris) McNutt, Springhill; sisters, Helen (Bill Heffernan) Clarke, Springhill and Geraldine McDermott of South Brook, Cumb. Co.; grandchildren, Tammy, Deanna, Megan, Amy and Mathieu; great grandsons, James and Devon; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife the former Gladys V. Newcombe in 2007; son, Michael; brother, Walter; sisters, Connie and Elva. Visitations were held Friday afternoon and evening in A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, from where the Funeral Service was held 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 9, 2008 with The Reverend Perry Hanley officiating. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Springhill, at a later date. If so desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
