VERA ANN McKENZIE DRILLEN

McKENZIE DRILLEN, VERA ANN - Sadly the family announces the death of Vera Ann (nee Wharington) McKenzie Drillen on Monday, December 11th, 2006 in Fredericton. She was born in Dafoe, Saskatchewan on August 19th, 1916. Vera outlived her two husbands, Jerry McKenzie and Hubert Drillen. She leaves two daughters, Pat and Maureen, their husbands, Rob and Ken, and the Oliver's children, Jennifer and Malcolm. In addition, she is survived by Canon Drillen's children, Philip and Cheryl, Philip's wife Gayle, and their children, Andrea Eaton, Travis and Kelsey Drillen. A graduate of the University of Saskatchewan and UNB, Vera was a widely respected and innovative educator, ending her career as principal of Priestman Street School. During her fifty years in Fredericton, she was a lively participant in many of the city's organizations and activities. And that is how she will be remembered, as a person with a great love of life and sense of humour. She loved good food and drink. She loved to dance and be surrounded by her many friends. In her quiet moments, she loved beaches and her pets. And best of all, Vera loved a good story. We will miss her. A celebration of her life will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, December 16th, 2006 at 2:00 pm with The Very Rev. Keith Joyce officiating. A reception will follow at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christ Church Cathedral Restoration Fund or to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home. (458-9170) www.mcadamsfh.com
