JOHN SWAIN

SWAIN, JOHN - The death of John Swain, widower of the late Carol J. (Muir) Swain occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 3rd, 2007. Born 1930 in Saint John he was the son of the late William and Jennie (Cook) Swain. John worked for the Lantic Sugar Refinery for 43 years as an Industrial Mechanic and especially like working on the cranes until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the First Wesleyan Church - Boars Head Road, Sugar Refinery Retirees Association and the Simonds Seniors Group. John especially loved watching television, enjoyed watching sports and had a keen interest in golf. In his earlier years he was an avid bowler. In his retirement days he enjoyed coffee at the Dairy Queen with the guys in the morning. John is survived by his sons, Brian (Yvette Arsenault) of Saint John, John of Winnipeg, Keith and Kevin both of Saint John; daughters, Sandra Hedrick (Ron) of Mission, BC and Heather Gogan (Bob) of Saint John; brothers, Greg (Lorraine) of Miramichi, Donald (Zeta) of Saint John and Gerald (Vera) of Dartmouth, N.S; sisters, Patricia Daley (Malcolm) and Elizabeth Gallery (Bob) both of Saint John; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents and his wife Carol he was predeceased by a brother, William; and a grandson, Randal Gallagher. Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd. (646-2424) with visitations on Thursday and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday January 6th, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
