It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Verda Grace Elayne Tabor on January 2, 2008 at the age of 88 years in Creston, BC. Born on December 5, 1919 in Springhill, NS, Verda attended school there and married the love of her life David Tabor on October 18, 1938 in Amherst, NS. Verda and David moved to Creston, BC in 1957 where Verda worked for Creston Co-op Packers for 25 years. Verda was initiated into the Kootenay Chapter #55 Creston Order of Eastern Star, held several offices and was worth matron from 1985 – 1986. She was also an active bowler, golfer, director of Creston & District Credit Union and enjoyed many social events. Verda was a published poet, stamp collector and did beautiful crochet work. Verda was predeceased by her husband David, son Michael, brother Doug, sister Marilyn and daughter Grace. Verda will be dearly missed by her daughters; Barbara (Tom) Canning, Patricia (Don) Lawrence; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sister Jerry (Herb) Babineau and sister Jess Hopkins, brother Charles (Bud) Ward and sister-in-law Ivy Tabor. A celebration of Life Service was held on Saturday, January, 5, 2008 at 2pm at the Masonic Hall – Order of Eastern Star Tribute Kootenay Chapter. Friends wishing to make a memorial contribution may doso to the charity of their choice.
