ROONEY, IVA GRACE (NEE BUCHANAN) - Iva Rooney, 67 passed away peacefully in the arms of her daughter at 4:36am. Friday, January 5th, 2007 at the Humber River Regional Hospital in Toronto, Ontario. Vivacious Iva was born in O'Leary, P.E.I. on April 1st, 1939 and moved to Saint John, N.B. during the 1950's. It was in Saint John that Iva graduated from Vocational High, married Francis Rooney and gave birth to Jo-Anne, Michael and John. In 1971 Iva moved to Toronto, On, sampling life's experiences in work and recreation until succumbing to complications due to liver failure. Iva now joins her son John (resting in Saint John since 1974) and father Robert, and is survived and loved by her daughter Jo-Anne, Toronto, On; son Michael, Cranbrook, BC; mother Ester Buchanan, Toronto, On; brother John, Bowmanville, On; 1/2 sister Judy, Halifax, NS; 1/2 sister Heather and her brother Bruce, PEI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A memorial service and celebration of Iva Rooney's life will be held on Thursday, January 11th beginning at 6pm with the ceremony at 7pm at the Ward Funeral Home- Weston Chapel 2035 Weston Rd., Toronto, On. All who know Iva have at least one interesting story about her and are encouraged to share it during the ceremony. A reception will follow at 2214 Keele Street (West Room). Iva's remains will be escorted by her remaining children to the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Saint John, NB., where she will permanently reside with her son Gerard John Rooney.
