CROWTHER (BRIGGS), R. LYNNE, R.N. - It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Lynne, our dear mom, daughter, sister and dedicated aunt, on Thursday, January 11, 2007 in the Palliative Care Unit, VG Site, QEII. Born September 20, 1948 in Saint John, N.B., Lynne will be sadly missed by her son, Luke Thomas and his girlfriend Ashley Cooper; parents, Ken and Rhoda Briggs, Saint John, N.B.; sister, Jean O'Neill (Steve), Lower Sackville; brothers, Ron Briggs (Karin), Dartmouth; James Briggs (Janet), Dartmouth; nieces, Sabrina, Jenna, Brittany; nephews, Jason and Brett; and her special companion, Snowy. She was predeceased by her husband, Tom. Lynne graduated from Saint John High School in 1966 and the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1969. Lynne worked in Saint John, N.B.; Rockglen, Sask.; Halifax Infirmary, Park Haven Nursing Home and for the last 19 years at Melville Lodge Nursing Home. The elderly held a special place in Lynne's heart and she dedicated her nursing career to geriatrics. Lynne was a member of St. Paul's United Church, Harrietsfield and was a loving and caring mom to Luke. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Lynne was a true and faithful friend and was always eager to help others. Lynne's love of her family and friends and her passion for life gave her great encouragement to fight her illness. She believed in her angels and they were with her throughout her illness. Lynne has now joined her angels to watch over us. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 15, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial to follow at a later date in Stilesville United Church Cemetery in Stilesville, N.B. The family extends special thanks to nurses, Cathy McIntyre and Jo Ann Martin, and Dr. K. Kieser, Dr. M. Davis and Dr. F. Spicer.
